What is WWDC 2023 Student Challenge?

The WWDC Student Challenge is an annual competition organized by Apple for high school, college, and university students. WWDC 2023 Student Challenge Application Eligibility

To participate in the WWDC 2023 Student Challenge, you’ll need to create a playground for your app, complete a few written prompts, provide documentation, and submit your work.

To be eligible for the Challenge, you must meet the following criteria:

• To participate, you must meet the minimum age requirement in your jurisdiction, which is at least 13 years old in the US and may vary in other regions.
• You must register as a developer for Apple for free or already be a component of the Apple Developer Program.
• You must satisfy at least one of the following criteria:
• Currently enrolled in an accredited educational establishment or official homeschool equivalent.
• Currently enrolled in a STEM institution educational curriculum.
• Currently registered in an Apple Developer Academy.
• To be eligible, applicants must have completed high school or equivalent qualification in the last six months and either be awaiting admission to or have already been admitted to a recognized academic institution.
• Not hired full-time as a developer.

Please note that the Challenge is intended for student developers who are discovering and developing their software development talents. A Swift Student Challenge award might be awarded, or a WWDC Scholarship up to four times.

Requirement of Building App Playground in WWDC 2023 Student Challenge

To participate in the Swift Student Challenge, you are needed to make an interactive scene in an app playground that can be partaken in within three minutes. Be creative and attempt to come up with something unique. In case you need some inspiration, feel free to use the provided templates as a starting point to create more complex projects. Personalize the templates by adding graphics, audio, and other features to make it your own.

Here are some criteria that your submission must meet:

• Your submission must be a .swiftpm app playground in a ZIP file.
• Your app playground must include all resources locally in the ZIP file and not rely on a network connection, as evaluations will be done offline.
• The size of your ZIP file must be 25 MB or less.
• Your submission must be an individual creation or a modified template, and group work is not allowed. Third-party open-source code and public domain materials can be used with proper credit.
• Your app playground must run on Swift Playgrounds 4.2.1 or later or Xcode 14 and be in English. Apple Pencil may also be used.
• You can partake in dialogues and ask queries on the Apple Developer Forums utilizing the Swift Student Challenge tag.

Criteria for Judging in WWDC 2023 Student Challenge

To be considered, all submissions must adhere to the guidelines outlined in the WWDC23 Swift Student Challenge Terms and Conditions. The submissions will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

WWDC 2023 Student Challenge Awards

If you win a Challenge award, you’ll get some cool stuff from Apple, like WWDC23 outerwear, AirPods Pro, and a custom pin set. And, if you’re old enough, you’ll also receive a one-year membership in the Apple Developer Program for free! This membership starts on June 5, 2023, if you don’t already have one. If you already own a membership, it will be renewed for free for one more year once it expires. If you’re not old enough yet, you can contact Apple once you reach the age of majority and ask to activate your membership.
